At Least The Food Is Cooperating

The weather did not cooperate today. It was raining pretty hard so I didn't go out until 11:00AM. Luckily I went to the train station because it seems I need a reservation every time I travel which costs extra. I don't know if the EuroPass was really a good idea but it is too late now. The supplement for a first class ticket to Amsterdam is over 60 Euros. I got a 2nd class ticket and the supplement was only 39 Euros. That is because it is EuroStar so they told me.
I took the tram to the Vieille Ville and found the little restaurant from yesterday which was a good move. It was a charming place and the food was great. I had a wonderful seafood salad (cuttlefish, calamari, octopus and mussels on greens), a côte de veau with mushrooms which was the special of the day with rose wine.
I found a lunch companion with whom I am having dinner, a single woman who came in with a dog. She sat at the next table which was like sitting at the same table because it was very tight and her French sounded like mine so I asked her if she was American. She is from Washington DC and living in Nice for a few months.
I left her and found a bus to go to the Matisse Museum. I was afraid it might be closed on Tuesday and in fact it was closed and pouring when I arrived. I then turned around and took the bus back and landed a few blocks from my hotel.
It is still raining but I am going to take the tram back to Place Garibaldi and I am going to have oysters.
