Florence And Family

I have been to Florence quite a few times before. It is beautiful as usual. This seems to be the one place on my trip that American accents can still be heard. The first full day here I spent my time walking around Florence getting lost as usual. However, you can only just get so lost since it is not such a large city.

The streets are like in Ephesus. The stones have indentations which are put in the stones to prevent slipping on the wet days while wearing leather sandals. The guide in Turkey explained this system to us. They did it here as well and also in Venice. I did not spend much time sightseeing.

At 5:00 PM I met Stefano at the Galileo Museum. Stefano, speaking of odd jobs, has found his niche in life as Galileo. The museum is filled with inventions and scientific experiments from past centuries. I had a private tour.
It's like family week here. Stefano met me at the station. I am staying at Sharon's apartment in the center of Florence. She had just finished a cooking class which I wish I could have seen. She made dinner for the 4 of us -- Stefano, me and her significant other.  She started with soup, then a combination which strangely worked: porcini mushrooms, tomato, vegetables, peppers and pears. Secondo was veal scalopinni with avocado.
