Jordanian Border & Petra

I got up at 5:00AM yesterday (Wednesday) and took a bus to Eilat. After depositing my large bag at the hotel that I'll be staying at when I return to Eilat, I was transported to the border where I had help doing the paperwork. I walked across and met my driver and took about a 2 1/2 hour ride to Petra which is also the name of a Mountain Range. He was interesting and we talked along the way. Although his English was limited I did get an idea of his thoughts about contemporary events, women, etc.
Last night I saw Petra by night A path of illuminated paper bags led the way. Three nights a week they have this event which ends at the treasury. There was a concert with instruments which were not contemporary. It was quite beautiful although my anxious thoughts wandered to the uphill climb out.
I do not think I can do a trip like this again. It is strenuous work. I probably made a mistake by signing up for a tour today. I probably should have just done it on my own but now I await a travel group doing a boat tour coming from Aqaba so I am sitting in the lobby which has very very slow Internet access.
I know it is the Red City built by the Nabateans over two thousand years ago. I have yet to see the color because there is no color at night.
