A Vacation From My Vacation

Well, here I am in Eilat doing absolutely nothing which is not too bad for.a couple of days.  It is pleasant, especially compared to winter in New York. Still, the weather here could be a little more cooperative.  Today it's partially overcast and a little cool for sunbathing.  I've been watching Egypt on CNN and the BBC, reading a book on my iPad -- just finished "Infidel" by Ayaan Hirsi Ali who was in the Dutch Government and now in the US -- and generally just hanging out at the beach.

Actually, I moved back to the pool area because there was rap music by the beach. The name of the game here is diving and para-sailing and since I am not inclined to do either, I am just chilling.
My hotel is off the beaten track a few miles outside of Eilat proper. I went downtown yesterday and concluded that it was a mixture of Miami Beach, Coney Island, and maybe Brighton Beach since things are written in Hebrew, English and Russian.
I decided to postpone my trip to Petra for another year.  Even though everyone says it's safe, I do not feel liike going to a tourist destination of an Arab Country at the moment.

No rice fields, Buddhist, Hindu or ancient Egyptian temples (just synagogues) and no local market places, and no riots. So no exciting traveling at the moment. It is a vacation from my vacation.
