Sitting at breakfast in Siem Reap Cambodia. It is a sleepy little town become a tourist Mecca to see the ruins of Angkor Wat. The breakfast selections are International since they get tourists from Malaysia, Singapore, USA, Australia, Japan etc. Lots of strange things to eat but they do have omelets. In Asia breakfast is much different then in the West. The Chinese and Vietnamese eat soup for breakfast. In China noodles with vegetables is also a breakfast favorite and every breakfast buffet offers noodles, vegetables and a lot of things I cannot identify. The hotel is quite nice and has a pool. They only use dollars here, their money is worth nothing. It is difficult to know who
is Korean, Chinese or Filipino. I recognize the Japanese who are very polite and have their cameras out all the time.
The Cambodians are very nice people. They are recovering from a dictator and years of civil war. Because of that the country has not developed as fast as their neighbors. They greet you with their hands in a prayer position with a little bow. It is a much slower pace here than in Ho Chi Minh City.
Going to the famous ruins today. This is a typical house in a farming village. Farming is the main source of income for the majority of the people. Tourism in this area has added much income to the local communities as in Vietnam. The reason the house is on stilts is because there are floods in the rainy season.
