Damsel In Distress
Thursday
When it really started raining, I was on top in the front seat, and the hop-on-hop-off bus was at the Santa Caterina Market. I decided to get out of the rain and check out the market and have lunch. I am now having a Crema Catalana which is a Spanish creme brûlée. I like the French version better. The sun had come out, I am sheltered under the roof of the market but outside. It is getting windy and dark again.
I know I am near the Picasso museum so I think that's what I'll aim for next. It really is a wonderful city with palm trees everywhere and a mixture of old Gothic buildings and new modern glass and steel and Gaudi mixed in all around.
Well Barcelona is famous for pickpockets. I still think it's a great city but I am now a statistic. I have been picked. Waiting while I write to make a police report. Thank goodness I brought a photocopy of my passport. It was with my wallet which is somewhere in Barcelona no longer with me. Also thank goodness because of my debit card hacking last year I brought cash with me. I should have enough for the last five days. I think it's my turn next. I am now sitting while the policeman is doing the paperwork. I kept thinking tomorrow was Saturday and the consulate would be closed. Luckily I hope it is open tomorrow. I hope the government of the U S A is still working here.
What a fucking drag but it is what it is.
Friday
Had trouble sleeping this morning. I am going to try to stay in Barcelona and go home from here. First the consulate.
Later
Judy
